How Microbotox Works
Microbotox injections cause your sweat glands, as well as your sebaceous glands (oil secreting glands that can contribute to the development of acne) to shrink in size and produce less sweat and oil. The result of these changes is smoother, clearer skin that is less oily. The injections are placed superficially instead of into the facial muscles so Microbotox does not effect the muscle movement like regular Botox treatments can. Microbotox works just beneath your skin to soften the lines and wrinkles and pores being targeted, creating a translucent glow that makes your skin look vibrant and more youthful.
- Reduction in pore size
- Tighter, smoother skin
- Diminished acne scar appearance
- Diminished fine lines and crepiness
- Decreased oil production
- Decreased inflammation that can cause acne
- Natural looking results
- Luminous glow to skin
- Non-permanent treatment
This treatment can result in a more youthful glow and a refreshed appearance. Unlike traditional Botox treatments, Microbotox is performed at a superficial level, within the skin layer, preventing the “freezing” effect commonly associated with Botox injections in the muscle. For some patients, Microbotox treatment can help treat both acne-causing inflammation and acne scarring. Microbotox effects are not permanent and like regular Botox injections, will need to be reapplied after a few months to maintain benefit.
Skinjectables delivers Microbotox using tiny needles to place the injections strategically in various locations on the face and neck, just below the skin’s surface. Most patients find this treatment very tolerable without any numbing agents, but topical anesthetic or ice can be used to reduce discomfort. Some patients experience erythema (redness of the skin) after treatment, which can last for around 72 hours afterward. The number of visits required and frequency can vary among individuals depending on factors such as skin quality and degree of environmental insults like photo damage or sun exposure. The cost of Microbotox treatment varies depending on how many units are used, the number of which can be determined based upon consultation.
